Paintball Pistol - A Type Of Paintball Marker

Paintball pistols are a common type of paintball marker used in the game of paintball. These pistols look like or resember regular pistols or guns. You basically have two main types of pistols:

  • The pump pistol
  • Semi automatic pistol

Generally paintball pistols are not used in tournament play due to the fact that many of the games have a "1 marker per person" rule so a player cannot take 2 markers onto the playing field. Pistols have a lower shot capacity leaving the player at a disadvantage on the playing field against their opponent.

It's interesting but sometimes a player will agree to play with a pistol knowing that they are at a severe disadvantage on the playing field, but they do this to prove their skills over an opponent in a paintball game.

For the reasons already stated, Paintball pistols are primarily used as a sidearm due to the fact that they are a low performance marker in play. Many times the use of a pistol is as a last resort.

Let's look at some of the pros & cons of using a paintball pistol:

  • Cons:
    - smaller capacity for ammunition
    - has shorter barrels therefore less accurate shots
    - smaller air capacity which means they can fire less shots
  • Pros:
    - Very, very light
    - You can carry it on your side in a holster, or really anywhere on your body
    - A smaller profile that can be hidden from view
    - Can easily use these in any maneauvers.
    - Portable - can bring it anywhere
    - Very easy to reload
    - can definitely help improve you skills because it is smaller with smaller barrel and less accurate shots.
